Panel & Service Upgrades in Brookfield
Plenty of Brookfield homes still run on a fuse box or a small 60-amp or 100-amp panel. That service was never designed for central air, a remodeled kitchen, a laundry with an electric dryer and a houseful of electronics. When fuses blow regularly or the panel has no room for new circuits, Reliable Electrician Network replaces it with service sized for the way you live, across Brookfield, La Grange Park, Riverside and Western Springs.
Describe the problem and we'll tell you how quickly we can be there.

When it's time to upgrade
- A fuse box, or fuses that blow under normal use
- 60-amp service in a house with central air
- No open spaces for new circuits
- Scorch marks, buzzing or a warm panel cover
- A kitchen remodel, addition or EV charger planned
- A panel brand with a poor safety record
What the upgrade involves
Usually a new 200-amp panel, along with a new meter socket, service entrance cable and grounding where needed. We pull the permit, coordinate the disconnect and reconnect with ComEd, and schedule the village inspection. Power is off for part of the day, and we tell you how long in advance. In older Brookfield homes we also check that the branch circuits feeding the new panel are in decent shape.
Panel first or wiring first?
In older homes the question often comes up: do we upgrade the panel or the wiring first? It depends on what's riskier in your house. A new panel adds protection and capacity, but doesn't fix brittle wiring behind the walls. We assess both and recommend an order that makes sense for safety and for your plans.

Panel Upgrades questions
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Most are completed in a working day with power off for part of it. We'll give you the schedule after the assessment.
Do I need a permit in Brookfield?
Yes. Panel and service upgrades require a permit and inspection, which we handle.
Will ComEd be involved?
For a service upgrade, yes. They disconnect and reconnect at the meter, and we coordinate the timing.
Does a new panel fix old wiring?
No. It adds capacity and modern protection, but older branch wiring may still need attention. We'll tell you what we see.
